Threave Garden near washout!

I'd kept my eye on the weather report more than usual for this wedding. Mhairi and David were getting married at Threave Gardens in Castle Douglas and if the weather stayed dry the ceremony would be in the gardens, otherwise 90 people were going to be squashed into two rooms of the grand old house. Well the weather report was looking ok, with sunny spells due for the afternoon, however the morning started grey and very wet!

As we arrived at Threave the skies dried up but it was definitely going to be an indoor wedding, what a shame as the autumnal gardens were looking particularly stunning, with no shortage of amazing locations. The guests arrived by coach and were welcomed into the grand house by Linda who worked for Threave, who was great!  Thankfully, the weather held out long enough to let the guests and bride get into the house relatively dry!

It was a humanist ceremony with hand-tying, followed by champagne in the adjoining room. We managed to persuade 90 odd people to come outside for a large group shot and then whilst the skies stayed dry, we whisked the couple off for some quiet, portrait shots.  I was particularly impressed with Mhairi, who marched up a very muddy hill in heels to get to one of our chosen locations, completely unphased.  We had a funny exchange with a group of anorak-clad visitors to the gardens whilst taking some of these shots, and I couldn't resist getting a photo of them as they tried to walk past the newly weds, much to their horror!

Some lovely shots in the can we left the couple to get on with the serious business of celebrating whilst Lynne and I took off for a curry in the new restaurant in Castle Douglas.
