Nichole & Ky were actually married in their homeland, Canada, but had wanted to come over to Scotland for a Celtic Blessing. They decided upon Caerlaverock Castle as a venue, which Lynne and I were thrilled about as it’s a dream location to take photos.
The blessing itself was really interesting, and not only involved the usual hand tying ceremony performed in humanist weddings, but also included a bit about Scottish history which was particularly relevant as this was the day Scotland would find out if it had gained independence or not. There was even a ritual of jumping over a broomstick which we’d never witnessed before.
In every way, Nichole & Ky were amazing to photograph. Yes, we had the unusual luxury of just having them to ourselves to photograph without timings to keep to, but we soon found out that Nichole was in her element. She had been doing her research well, she knew exactly what to do and had loads of ideas. They were also up for anything, including scaling the walls of the castle to get out to the edge and climbing up anything we asked her to. Clearly the photo’s were important to them, as a reminder of this special day in Scotland, so they gave it 100%. We want to thank Nichole & Ky for letting us be a part of this special day too.
